Century Ride - Part Deux - Route

Some of us are planning to ride a century (100 miles) in lieu of the cancelled Muddy Waters ride. If you haven't read part one go here first.

If the Muddy Waters Century Ride is 100 miles (162km) from Kildonan Park and back but we start and end six kilometres up the road at the legion how does that work to complete a century? Won't we be several km short? Last year's ride (according to everyone I rode with) actually measured almost 168 km. Starting and ending at the legion does still leave about 6 km short, but that can be made up several ways and can be discussed Saturday.

Here's a link to last year's route to give some background. You can see an error in the distance between step 9 and 10 accounting for some of the discrepancy. NOTE: There aren't any manned rest stops. This is a copy of last year's route. The exact route will be explained Saturday morning.

If one were to plan to ride the first loop and then join the FOG ride, one would return to the legion at Step 10 (short loop legion to legion is ~ 37.5 km). Howard has suggested a 0730 departure from the legion for that. For the 2nd loop that more or less mimics the FOG ride, the differences from the FOG ride are

• -extension to Cook's Creek
• -1 1/2 loops of BHP (including down and back up from the West gate on the first loop)

After the ride swap stories in the legion with some good food and maybe a beer.
