As mentioned Saturday, the AlterEgo club is organising it's century ride and has invited members of other clubs to join. Please see the message below for more details:
Alter Ego Cycling Club will host its annual Ahead by a Century ride on July 16, with the usual distances of 100 km and 160 km. All cyclists who possess a valid 2023 MCA membership and who have experience with group riding in a paceline are invited to join. A road bike and a helmet are required. There is no fee for participating. No advance registration is required. Please share this information with your club members, as well as with other cyclists who may be interested in participating!The anticipated paces are 28 km/h for the 100 km route and 31 km/h for the 160 km route. Both routes will ride together for the first 50 km. Riders should come prepared with snacks and at least two water bottles. There will be opportunities to purchase additional beverages and snacks during the ride. Participants will be asked to provide proof of a 2023 MCA membership, such as a confirmation email on a phone.

Note that the 100k route has been altered due to construction.

Although it was cool and had rained earlier the roads were mostly dry at the start. There wwere two good size groups which rode apart. The way out was very manageable with light behind but it became quite gusty with a side wind on the way back which put us from the yellow line all the way to the edge with a few riders struggling. Everyone made it back safe and sound. Thank you Alter Ego for hosting the event and for the treats along the way!
