Ride recap and looking ahead

About 25 riders were out for the April 18th ride. It looked like sleet and snow as I headed out the house, but after a little flurry it ended. The wind was consistently from the north at 21 gusting to 30 kph and the temperature hovered between 0˚C and +1˚for the ride. After being +18 during the week, it certainly didn’t seem that warm. We headed up Henderson Hwy to Lockport and then over to do laps of BHP. By the way Alex has checked and River Road is not open. A group of about seven turned around at Lockport making for a nice 40km ride. Others did ½, 1½, or 2½ laps of BHP, the latter yielding an 83 km ride. Marc and Tom were the horses, riding from west Winnipeg for a total of about 130km.

Tom Groot was the Hard Man of the North for the week of April 11. For April 18 it was Marc Fournier and Roland Amsler. If you are familiar with the term Flahute, then you know. If not, I’ll explain later.

The first road race of the season takes place tomorrow at BHP. That means two things. 1) A few of the regulars won’t be at the ride. 2) As the race is supposed to run clockwise when entering BHP it would be prudent to ride counter-clockwise. I would suggest going to Cook’s Creek before BHP, but Howard will discuss that with you beforehand. A reminder that this will be the last 10:00 a.m. start until October. Starting next weekend (May 2) rides shift to 9:00 a.m.
