Whitemouth Challenge Updates

Last updated May 4, 2011 0920h
Please check back regularly for the latest updates:

-Prizes
Approximately $1000* in prize money, divided between finishing prizes and draw prize. Depth of prizing will depend on category and category numbers.
Thanks to the RM of Whitemouth for their generous support.
*It is the FOG philosophy that all money collected goes into the race or back to the riders in prizes. FOG retains no race proceeds for its own club activities.

-Yellow Line Rule Is In Effect
  • Unless otherwise stated the yellow line rule is always in effect in Manitoba races held on open public roads.
  • This is an active highway. Riders may not cross the yellow line into the oncoming lane under any circumstance. If a rider feels they are in a position where they are “forced” over the line, they must not advance their position in the pack. Violation will result in immediate disqualification.
-Slower riders (and packs of riders) if caught by faster riders must, as soon as it is safe to do so, move to the far right hand side of the road to allow faster riders or groups of riders to pass safely.

- The approximate race distances are
  • cat 2/3 100km
  • cat 4    75 km
  • cat 5    50 km
- The course is an out and back loop; that necessitates a 180 degree turn at each end of the loop.  From the commissaires: 'sportmanslike conduct is expected as the groups are turning around. While accelerating out of the turn-about is tempting, it’s frowned upon by all.'

-Where riders of different categories have both fallen out of contention and they are simply finishing the race, they can ride together. By all certainty, the lead riders CANNOT mix with any other group on the road. There are 3 independent races being run on the same course.

-Feed Zone
Due to race length, a feed zone will be permitted for the cat 2/3 race only, as they are finishing their 3rd lap and entering their 4th.
There is NO feedzone for cat 4 or 5 races.
Violation will result in disqualification.
