Road, MTB, and CycloCross have decided to move to a new format for Provincial Championship races. Previously these were run on age based categories. This year it is proposed that they be run as ability based i.e. for road there would be a cat 2/3 provincial championship, a cat 4 provincial championship, and a cat 5 provincial championship. Within each there would be a gender separation and an age separation of above and below age 23. MTB and CycloCross would do something similar.
Brendan Cade, the MCA road director, has asked for feedback asap as this is about to be implemented for road provincials. There are arguments for and against. I feel there are more against; both for the format and also the particular age split, but that's just me. If you have an opinion you should let Brendan (brendancade at gmail dot com) know this weekend and copy me gsewell at mymts dot net.
UPDATE: June 22. The format had been changed back to the traditional age-based categories.
