On Saturday during the fittings I was how much gain could one expect with an aero jersey compared to a standard one? In July CyclingNews.com published an article on best bang for the buck speed improvements and stated one can expect a 15 watt savings from an aero jersey, 20 watts from a skinsuit. They didn't reference that to any velocity and manufacturers often quote wattage savings at something like 50 kph, completely unrealistic for most FOG members. However, in their recent article on the best aero wheels they do use 30kph and 40 kph - easily in the realm of FOG speeds. Additionally they quote the same 15 watt figure for a new set of aero wheels. Since you're buying a new club jersey anyway, the $35 dollar difference between the standard Tech+ jersey and the Performance+ jersey seems like quite a bargain compared to a two to four thousand dollar set of wheels and makes that easily the best bang for the buck of any change you could make. The caveat is that does mean picking a snug fit.
