It's hot and humid from the beginning. 2 km and we already have the first flat. We decided to send the regular group on the way while we waited for Martin. A quick change, we're on our way and bang, Rene has a flat almost immediately. He waves the group on and will ride the route in reverse to rejoin us. At Lockport, we formally organize into our two groups. The pace of the fast group is intense for the rest of the ride typically running between 44 and 48 kph. The second group rides together for awhile, but later splits into 'slow' and regular groups. With our faster and less frequent stops both fast and regular groups are able to take part in the club photo and still ride the full loop and make it back in time for the BBQ.
