Ouch!

Best wishes to Mike Payment who broke his collar bone while rding on Wednesday.

A different kind of hurt. Four cars had their windows broken and items stolen at Highland Park while we were out riding. From my experience last year and talking to police, thieves are looking to smash and grab. They want to be in and out in a few seconds.

Don't bother locking your wallet in your glove compartment, they will jimmy it open in a matter of seconds. This is one time when it doesn't pay to be neat. If you neatly put all your stuff in a bag on the front seat it's almost like you've gift wrapped it for them. The best thing is to put things out of sight. They don't want to take the time to break in and have to search. For the same reason, if you spread things out throughout your car you're probably better off. Put your cell phone some place out of reach/sight so it's not stolen too and so you can call and cancel your credit cards asap. Sure the credit card company will cover the losses, but why give the thieves the reward of being able to use them.
