Mid Weekend Wrap

Saturday
What a beautiful day for a ride. About 30 riders again with 14 completing the full BHP ride. 6C to start, up to 13C by the end. Much milder wind this week.

La Doyenne
Tomorrow pretty much marks the end of the spring classics with the last of the monuments: Liege Bastogne Liege.

Valverde has to be the favourite; on the podium the last two years and winner at La Fleche mid week and 2nd last weekend at Amstel Gold. Those last two races had classic finishes with late breakaways and the peloton scrambling to chase them down. An old man at 35 as of today no matter what you think of him there aren't that many riders who are true contenders for victory in both the one day classics and for overall in the grand tours.

You might be able to catch the finish at Steephill.tv before heading out to BHP for the WOW race. The Eurosports feeds work on a computer, but you'll need to scroll through all the links to find something that will work on an ipad.

Astana
Well I don't think it came as too much of a shock that Astana kept it's licence. There's not a single sport that isn't affected by doping, even table tennis. And let's not even start with the joke that is the anti-doping 'efforts' by the major North American sports, but it is sad and it can't but leave a bad taste in one's mouth.
