23 Days of Italia - Day 4

According to the prognosticators, day 3 and 4 are 'lumpy,' hilly, but not mountainous; suited more to the 'puncheurs' the power climbers who can finish well like Philippe Gilbert, Michael Matthews, or perhaps Peter Sagan (not at the Giro), rather than the super skinny pure climbers like Contador or Froome. That certainly played out in stage 3 where Mathews won, and Gilbert despite being caught by the peloton with 12 km to go after being in the break of the day still managed 3rd.

Lumpy
Rallentare actually means slow down. Serie dossi translates to series of bumps. This lead to a little 'bump' of about 20%. For comparison sake, Big Bridge is about 2.5%.

Rocco Grimalda
Down here usually means climbing up there. Tinkoff-Saxo were able to drop great finishers like Tom Boonen and Andre Greipel on Day 3 by pushing the pace over such lumpy climbs.
