23 Days Of Italia - Day 7

A number of commentators have professed their love and preference for the Giro over the Tour. The organization is never as clinically efficient as that of the Tour lending a warmness and character often missing at the Tour; and indeed at times a touch of chaos that is somehow endearing.

Bike touring is a wonderful way to explore a country. A bike and printed turn by turn directions and you're off to explore as slowly or as quickly as you wish. Routes are typically planned to avoid major roads and with the warren of small streets and paths in and around old European towns, turns often come every hundred meters making one utterly reliant on accurate directions lest one head off riding in completely the wrong direction for a couple of hours. But what if you're supposed to turn left toward Paciarini, but the sign points in the opposite direction?

Paciarini is somehow behind us??

Or is it supposed to point this way?

Some bonus time in the saddle determining that this was only the only sign to Paciarini within kilometres. It may as well have been a weather vane it turned so easily. That's Italia!
